Minako Takizawa 滝沢三奈子

Ceramic artist Minako Takizawa lives and works in Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture. Inspired by the free and diverse creative spirit of Kasama ware, she has dedicated her practice to crafting pottery for everyday living. She believes that each piece should naturally find its place on the dining table, accompanying people through simple, comforting moments shared over meals.

Her work is instantly recognizable. Soft, warm glazes in ivory, cream, olive green, and pale yellow are paired with hand-painted botanical motifs, including flowers, fruits, and foliage, creating an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and full of life. The surfaces retain the subtle textures and brushstrokes of the handmade process, embracing the beauty of imperfection rather than striving for flawless symmetry. As a result, every piece carries its own unique character and warmth.

Beyond her expressive hand-painted decoration, Takizawa often incorporates sculptural botanical elements into her designs. Grapes, olives, leaves, and other natural forms are thoughtfully integrated into the vessels, adding depth, playfulness, and tactile interest while maintaining their functionality.
